A Place of Interaction

Humans are social beings and because of this, they are individuals that usually love interacting with others. Humans need each other in order to survive and politically speaking, everyone has their own opinions about things whatever the issue may be. It can’t be denied that humans think differently, and it is best to, actually hear the suggestions and concerns of others in order to have more insights about things. In a group or community, the opinion of one is very important because it might be a possible solution to an existing problem in a society. Since a community is bounded together by their beliefs, aspirations and culture, they should act as a group and participate in any transaction that is why every organization provides a place for gathering commonly known as a forum. A forum is usually a meeting place of individuals that engage in different transactions like discussions, and other modes of communication.

The Romans are the first known individuals that have created large forums for the people. They describe a forum as a big rectangular space for their festivities, meetings and discussions. They also call a forum a market place wherein any transaction would take place including business and games for the people. Their forums were surrounded by big beautiful temples, and it was usually situated at the middle of their city. The Romans have built separate forums for different activities.

Nowadays, forums can be done anywhere as long as people take part in the discussions. Oftentimes, there is an administrator that provides the involved individuals with a topic to talk about. This person usually manages the entire discussion. This is usually a topic that is of great relevance to a certain group involved; an example of which are politicians. The public can also take part in a forum that involves their concerns about the people running them and the experiences they have during the governance. Through this, the people are able to notify people bout their concerns. A forum promotes a two-way interaction among the leaders and its people or subordinates. A forum is also utilized by people that want to discuss a certain agenda and members are able to share their insights prior to approval and implementation.

For people that are using the internet, the forums that are usually visited by the users is the discussion boards. These are internet forums that allow people to voice out their comments on a certain posted topic. Aside from this, people are also given the chance to post a certain topic they want to discuss and any user can take part with this kind of forum. The internet forum is somewhat similar to the forums that require a personal interaction; just like other forums, there are rules and regulations that need to be followed. For example, harsh words and degrading thoughts are prohibited and if a user fails to comply with the said rules, the user will eventually be blocked from the site and won’t be able to make further comments about a topic. Users are also allowed to post as many comments as they can but other forums prohibit double posting and flooding, which may prevent the user from posting further comments. What’s interesting about a forum is that the people that can take part are unlimited and a user has a choice on which threads to visit and can eventually decide when to leave. Just like a formal forum there are also moderators and administrators that manage the discussions of the forum and this maintains its organization. Through forums in the internet, people get a chance to meet new people that eventually become their friends and sharing an insight about something with many people agreeing, will help boost the self-esteem of a person. Of course, there are also users that are not so friendly that take part with the discussion and people are easily irritated by such users; therefore, a potential enemy can also be possible in a forum. Other individuals engage in a forum just to piss others, and it is better to ignore such users.

Whatever type of forum one engages in, the most important thing is that a person can voice out his side or opinion about a certain matter and gets to learn something from other members of the forum about the discussion.
